SmartBike DC uses horizontal racks for docking and parking of bicycles. The easy to identify vertical column that is attached to one end of the rack contains all elements to process the rental operations.

Retrieving a Bike

• Go to any bike station
  
  
• Wave your SmartBike DC user card in front of the card reader
  
  
• Follow instructions on screen
  
  
• Retrieve assigned bike from rack

Returning a Bike

• Go to any bike station
  
  
• Insert the bicycle into the docking slot of an available spot
  
  
• Make sure the green light switches from flashing to steady
  
  
• The bicycle is then securely locked

• A steady red light indicates that a bike was returned within a
  very short time. No further action is required.
  
  
• A flashing red light signals a potential error. If you see a
  flashing red light when you return the bike, please contact us
  at 1-800-899-4449.
